Day Five
DAY FIVE
MORNING VERSE:
“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him.” (Colossians 1:21-22)
EVENING VERSE:
“In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism…” (Colossians 2:11-12)
MEDITATION
The Book of Proverbs says, to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet. Something happens when you take time to remember your alienation from God, your hostile thoughts and your evil deeds. The bitterness of those days remind you of the pain and darkness you used to live in. Take some time to sit in that darkness. As you do, bring the work of the cross into your mind. See his body of flesh, bruised and beaten for you. All of your sins and hostility being absorbed by the Son of God. It was in his body of flesh, his death, that took you out of darkness and into the light. God’s great vision for your life is that you would stand holy and blameless before him. How great is the cleansing power of the blood!
