Day Two

DAY TWO

MORNING VERSE:

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (John 6:51)

EVENING VERSE:

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

MEDITATION

When you eat a meal, your body is nourished. You can feel the food convert to energy within your body. It quickens your mortal body and gives you strength to perform your daily duties. Anyone who has fasted understands the lethargy and fatigue that the body feels. So too, with your spirit. If you fast from the bread of God, your spirit will become lethargic and sleepy. To strengthen our spirits we must learn to eat the bread of God. To receive his broken body as the highest expression of love towards us. Take time to meditate on the agony and pain that Jesus endured to give us his flesh. If he endured so much to give us his flesh, how deep must his love for you be?
