Day Twenty-Six
DAY TWENTY-SIX
MORNING VERSE:
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes
upon you to test you, as though something strange were
happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's
sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory
is revealed.” (1 Peter 4:12-13)
EVENING VERSE:
“For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is
blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former
sins.” (2 Peter 1:9)
MEDITATION
When Jesus began his ministry, he quotes Isaiah 61
which speaks of his anointing to proclaim good news to the poor,
liberty to the captives, recovery of sight for the blind and liberty
for the oppressed. Many of you have forgotten, grown cold and
numb, to the glory of having been cleansed from your former sins.
This forgetfulness has produced a spiritual blindness within you.
But be encouraged! Jesus is still opening the eyes of the blind.
Take time today and acknowledge your blindness before him.
Tell him that you have forgotten how wonderful it is to be
cleansed of your sin. If you have not forgotten, ask him simply to
open your eyes even more and to help you to stay innocent and
alive to the cleansing power of his blood.
