DAY TWENTY
MORNING VERSE:
“...he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.” (Hebrews 9:12)
EVENING VERSE:
“For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” (Hebrews 9:13-14)
MEDITATION
As a priest in the new covenant, you were made for nearness. You were made to draw close to God and to enjoy him forever. It is in his presence that there is fullness of joy. Are you lacking joy? Then you are lacking the consciousness of nearness. For it is impossible to be in the presence of God and be in want of joy. But how do you actually draw near? You know the Old Covenant priests were only able to enter the holy places, once a year and not without blood. But Jesus has entered into the true holy place, with his own blood, securing for us a path to draw near to God at all times. It is the consciousness of his blood, so superior to the blood of bulls and goats, that at any time we recall its efficacy, we may enjoy the presence of God.
