DAY NINETEEN
MORNING VERSE:
“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit…” (Titus 3:4-5)
EVENING VERSE:
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
MEDITATION
A slave cannot go where he pleases. Fear is a prison. Fear is a taskmaster. And the Devil held you, at one time, as a slave through the fear of death. This fear masters all those who have not come to Jesus. However, through the Gospel, a glorious freedom is revealed! The God-man, in humility, partook of flesh and blood. The Eternal One humbled himself to dwell in bodily form, being bound to time, space and all the other limitations and vulnerabilities of mankind. He partook of flesh and blood so that he could taste death for you. It is through his unlawful death, that the Devil has been destroyed. Though the Devil once had the power of death, he possesses it no longer. Take time to worship Jesus for his victory over the Devil. Thank him for his triumph. Rejoice in your salvation!
