DAY FIFTEEN

MORNING VERSE:

“But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.” (John 19:34)

EVENING VERSE:

“…this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” (Acts 2:23-24)

MEDITATION

When God and Adam searched creation to find a helper suitable for him, none was found. God then caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, he opened his side and took out a rib from which he formed woman. This woman was born from Adam’s side. Bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. So too, when Jesus had fallen “asleep” on the cross, his side was opened and at once there came out blood and water. How is it that you are born again? Why, of course! You are born again through the blood of Jesus consummated through the waters of baptism! What a glorious picture! Just as Eve was born from Adam’s side, so too the Bride of Christ is born from the Second Adam’s side. This speaks of our union with Christ. Our new origin and our new end. Take time to meditate on this reality and recognize the confidence the Spirit intends to birth in you through this picture. The confidence that you have been born of God!
