DAY TEN
MORNING VERSE:
“But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14)
EVENING VERSE:
“For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility…” (Ephesians 2:14)
MEDITATION
What do you boast about? Your boasting is not outward only. Your boasting is in every place that you function in your own strength. To the Apostle Paul, the thought of boasting in his own strength was anathema. To boast in the cross is to be constantly aware that all of your strength, blessings and goodness have come to you through the unconditional love of God expressed on the cross. David said, “I have no good apart from you.” Your ability to make money, to do business, to love and to speak comes to you not on the basis of your natural strength. Has the world been crucified to you and have you been crucified to the world? Does the pride of life and desire for possessions dominate your affections? It is only by spending time, at the cross, in our hearts and minds that these lusts of the flesh are dealt with. There is no victory in trying harder! There is no victory in stacking up a list of spiritual things to do. The victory is in Jesus! It is in the cross. Slow down today and let the world be crucified to you, and you to the world.
